I have always felt that spiritual gifts and abilities were developed and strengthened through meditation and some sort of comm with the divine in oneself. My advice, therefore, would be to meditate on what your gifts are.

Have you actually prayed to your respective deity? I think everyone has gifts to be nurtured, but you have to have it revealed to you by God or your spirit guide.

I know the phrase "practice makes perfect" is quite traditional but I still think it applies. I always feel better when I have more practice, I can learn more about myself and the craft. In turn it allows the next chance to go smoother than the last.

I think Averina is right. I have found that a lot of people expect abilities to fall into their lap without even really practicing. This really is probably the most important step.
